Our trip along a section of the Mediterranean coast offers a smorgasbord of historical and cultural experiences. Designed for people with some paddling experience, our first 7 days is a 120 km self-contained kayak trip from Köyceğiz to Göcek. Camping on remote beaches, paddling beneath Lycian tombs carved into sheer rock faces, hiking up rugged hillsides for expansive views over the sparkling turquoise Mediterranean, keeping eyes peeled for giant turtles, visiting hot springs and exploring ancient ruins, we experience a wild and natural area of Turkey.
At Göcek, we farewell our kayaks and board a comfortable 6-cabin gulet (traditional handcrafted motor sailor) for a cruise to Kemer, with optional paddling using inflatable kayaks. We take in ancient cities, royal tombs and historic sites like Gemiler, Simena, Olimpos and Phaselis. At the delightful harbour town of Kas we explore narrow alleyways, carpet emporiums and cafes. Of course, there's also time for swimming and relaxing. Our exact itinerary will vary depending on weather conditions and opportunities along the way.

Day 2-7 : Self contained sea kayaking trip through Köyceğiz Lake, the Dalyan Delta and Mediterranean Turquoise Coast to Göcek Bay. Day 8 : Finish kayaking in Göcek, and board gulet in the afternoon. Day 9-12 : Cruise the Mediterranean coast, past Ölüdeniz, Gemiler Island, Kalkan, Kaş, Myra, Finike and Olimpos. Day 13 : Cruise to Kemer, disembark after breakfast and transfer to Antalya airport. ÇORUH RIVER
Grade 5
Location Up to 5 days kayaking or rafting on a high volume pool drop river. The river increases in difficulty through the 5 days from grade 3 to sections of grade 5 at peak flow. There are a number of side streams that can also be run, eg Barhal, Oltu, Tortum, Ovit (all Grade 4). Road access is available at all times, allowing easy inspection/portage.
Peak flow is in late May and early June, by mid July all of the harder rapids are a grade easier.
Also in the north-east there are a number of steep creeks, such as the Fırtına and Maçka, flowing north into the Black Sea. This area has high summer rainfall so flows are fairly constant throughout the summer.
ÇORUH RIVER TRIP
The Çoruh River in north-east Turkey is recognized as one of the top ten white water rivers in the world, with its high volume rapids (up to grade 5 in May and June) fed by the snow-melt from the eastern Black Sea mountains in the north-east of Turkey. It flows through spectacular canyons and narrow fertile valleys or orchards and tiny paddy fields, past ancient ruined castles all set against a backdrop of magnificent rugged mountains and traditional village life virtually untouched by tourism.
We have been running regular expeditions on the Çoruh since 1992, and we are still the only Turkish company to offer regular trips on this river.
We run 4-day and 5-day camping expeditions during May and June. We also offer 7-day expeditions including trekking, for private groups.
LESSONS For individuals and small groups of beginners we are able to arrange kayak lessons on a private basis on the Dalaman River.

Location About half way between Marmaris and Fethiye. It is fed by natural limestone reservoirs so the water is clear, turquoise-blue and warm. It can be run all year round, although the upper section gets very technical towards the end of the summer (Sept-Oct) and all of the sections can become large in spring after heavy rain, rising by at least a grade. rapids are easily inspected and portaged if necessary.
The river is pool-drop in nature allowing for straightforward rescues. However, road access is only available at put-in and take-out points. The river flows through a series of gorges, dividing it into two consecutive sections above the village of Akkцprь. The coastline of south-west Turkey, where the Aegean Sea meets the Mediterranean Sea, is a paradise for sea kayakers: steep rugged cliffs, deserted sandy bays, deep clear pools, hidden coves and fascinating islands, not to mention a huge variety of sea life and sea birds.
The coastline is dotted with ruined castles and cities. Yet despite its beauty, this coast is rarely visited outside the tourist resorts. And of course the climate makes our area even more attractive for paddling - hot, settled, sunny weather for much of the year, and a relatively warm sea.
Whether you are an experienced expedition paddler, a relative novice, or a total beginner, we have a guided trip to suit you - choose a 1-day, 3-day or 6-day trip, or let us designed a customized itinerary for you. Alternatif Outdoor was the first to introduce sea kayaking to this part of Turkey and we have been running paddling trips here since 1998. We insist on using high-quality, well-maintained equipment and experienced English-speaking guides. Experienced paddlers also have the option of renting kayaks and gear for an independent trip.

A picnic lunch is provided on all one-day tours, plus transport to the start/finish point where necessary.
